Taken at the Soda club in Montreal, this image evokes unpleasant memories. I was supposed to photograph (along with somebody else) a fashion event organized by our faculty to finance our graduation ball. I came earlier in the day to check out the light, adjust my flash, pick the best spots. I was supposed to as well take pictures of the models for the makeup artists’ portfolios. Well, the other photographer (professional not by abilities but rather by his photographic education and the photo studio he works with) had decided that he had exclusive rights. I guess me having the same Rebel XT with a nice lens had intimidated him enough for him to complain to the organizer of the event – a girl from my bachelors. I was very wrong thinking she would show him his place… I was offered to take pictures at any OTHER time than during the actual demonstration of the clothes.
…I left as heard the words come out of her mouth.
As it turns, life teaches a lesson, this guy turned out to be a perv: everybody was talking about him taking pictures of the girls changing, in panties and bras. And still, a few months after the event, they don’t have the pictures.
Great planning, great choices.
This shot was taken at ISO400 and I was lucky it is not blurry (the narrow DOF is what I wanted)
